Project Overview
It was decided that HDD was the most effective way to get from the newly proposed reservoir in Cameron Park to the existing Hunter Water site and connection point.
As part of the project on behalf of Hunter Water, Superior HDD were contacted by Diona to complete a 400 meter drill shot across forested and undulating terrain. We were required to install a new 450mm OD HDPE watermain connecting to the Cameron Park Reservoir as part of upgrading the water supply in the area to facilitate forecasted growth.
HDD is the preferred method of installing underground assets in hard ground conditions and under surfaces such as roadways, waterways, environmentally sensitive and heritage sites.
The PD150 330,000lb HDD rig was the perfect drill rig for the job due to the length of the bore, the weight and size of the pipe and compound curve profile of the drilling.
The drilling alignments were assessed and considered feasible whilst maintaining a safe level of separation from existing utilities.
Superior HDD achieved all targets set out by this project and client expectations resulting in positive outcomes for all involved.
